I’m totally in love with color so how could I not adore the King of Color, Jamie Drake?  Of course I do!  And if you follow this blog, you’ll know I’ve already written about him in the past.  This post, however is about moi.  Well, at least the landing on our first floor.  Ok, maybe that’s being generous.  It’s more like a stairway…  I was totally inspired by Jamie’s (foyer? dining room?) let’s just say “room” that he design for a client in the Flatiron Building in N.Y.

Obviously, we didn’t have this kind of space to work with on our miniscule landing but this is what I came up with.  And, no – the bare light bulb is not part of the design scheme – this is definitely a work in progress.  I ‘ll be adding a really simple… and round, light fixture.  Though my son is totally coveting this arrangement of paintings that I scored on eBay for his room, so this may just end up as Phase One.

As you can see, the other walls are still painted white.  Over all, our house is pretty neutral but I do love my pops of color.  Happy surprises should be waiting around every corner.  Plus, I think the pictures might discourage my son from dragging his grimy fingers along the walls as he makes his way down the stairs!
