Learning to render is one of the hardest parts about studying interior design online.  So when I find a resource that can help with that, I just have to share it.  Fellow interior design student, Yansi, told me about this site from Michelle Morelan, an interior designer based in Vancouver, Canada during our Skype study group. Michelle is an excellent artist and does beautiful renderings of interior spaces. Her blog, A Schematic Life, is loaded with examples like these:

But what I find even more useful are her video tutorials. She is an excellent teacher who explains her thought process while rendering an interior space. She is also very generous with her tips and tricks.  BTW, even if you’re not a student of interior design you might want to consider commissioning Michelle to illustrate your home – it would make a wonderful gift.  Thank you Michelle and thank you Yansi!

P.S.  There are two books that really helped me learn to render as well.  The first one is Interior Design Illustrated and the second book is called Sketching Interiors at the Speed of Thought.
