A cute chest of drawers is so versatile and a pair, even more so. You can place them side by side for a credenza, or use them in the foyer as an entry table. They look great (and are super useful) when used as nightstands or side tables and the list just goes on and on. In fact, you can kind of use them as statement pieces – if you’ve got the dough.
This is where Ikea’s rast dresser comes into play. It’s got good proportions, is made of solid wood and can be made over to fit into just about any style. Sure, in it’s natural state it’s a little boring but with a little imagination, a lot of preparation and some hard work you’re going to have smoker!
If you see something you like, make sure to head over to the designer’s website. They ALL have fabulous and very complete instructions. Here are my favorite Ikea rast dresser makeover’s. The first is from Bri and it’s frigging amazing – need I say more?
The next rast hack is from Naomi over at Design Manifest. Make sure to check out her website for info on where to find that killer hardware. Can you believe these dark lacquered beauties were born from the lowly rast dresser?
And you know I love this Dorothy Draper inspired dresser from Nancy Marcus Gueret over at Marcus Design. She, too has a full step by step breakdown of how she morphed rast into 40′s style glamalicious.
And this last much copied hack form Aubrey and Lindsay really gives the rast dresser an elegant twist. I love the brass pull rings. As always, full instructions on the how to’s can be found on Aubrey and Linsay’s site.
